A Personal Note

My family and I spent the weekend moving my mother out of her home into an assisted living facility where she will hopefully finish out her years living with dignity and joy. Fifty-seven years ago Mom and Dad moved from downtown Louisville to the small town of “Jeffersontown” to raise their family. Little did Mom know she would lose her husband to cancer at the young age of 36 and would have to finish the job of raising their eight children alone…but with God’s help she somehow managed to make it happen.

Our family begins this new journey with an array of emotions. One side of our hearts filled with hope and joy for the future, while the other side can’t help but mourn the past 57 years of living, dying, growing, fighting, gathering, and loving together in our small three bedroom home on Lynnwood Way.

I just want to say; what a wonderful ride it has been as I’m sure it will continue to be.

Dear God…thank you for the wonderful family you’ve given me.

Been thinking about Grandma constantly… I know what a crazy emotional mess it is moving somewhere just after 2-3 years; 57 – I truly can’t imagine. But, hopefully this is such a FUN place for her!

She is doing very well so far. She’s making friends and getting plenty of physical therapy and exercise…just what the doctor ordered.
