Dreams Withering on the Vine? Time to Get Emotional.

My lovely wife believes I have a tremendous amount of willpower. Don’t tell her, but the fact is…I don’t. And here’s something else I don’t have…musical talent. But I live as if I do. As a matter of fact…I write and play my own music every chance I get. Music is a big part of my life, and it will continue to always be.

Why?…because I simply can’t live without it.

A long time ago, I read a book which instantly changed forever the way I view my world and everyone in it. This book, “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill, uniquely illustrates how to use vivid emotional thoughts to attract anything you want from life…from a high paying job, to the person you want to spend the rest of your life with…and everything in between. I have used it to stay in shape as well as to achieve goals I would have otherwise rejected feeling they were unattainable.

The thesis of this book can be summed up in one sentence: Setting your mind on a burning desire, saturated with vivid emotion, attracts everything needed for success.

The key is “emotion”…for when it’s vividly attached to desire in such a way you can almost feel it, smell it and taste it…it begins to morph into action which leads to, actually even attracts, what’s desired. And if sustained, it will continue until fruition.

Those who don’t understand this process are dumbfounded by the amount of willpower you seem to display as you focus on getting most everything you want from life.

Example: The desire of taking that long awaited vacation pops into your mind. Immediately, one of two things happens.

1. The thought quickly withers on the vine as dozens of reasons why you can’t, or shouldn’t, enter in…or…

2. You begin to picture a beautiful sunny day on the beach…temperature in the low 80’s with the sea breeze in your face. As you’re hypnotized by the soothing sound of the ocean’s waves crashing, then dissipating gently on a soft blanket of white sugar like sand, you get a glimpse of your lovely wife relaxing in a beach chair reading her book and sipping on a cold drink. In the distance, you notice a couple parasailing over the water as seagulls glide overhead. There are absolutely no problems on your horizon as your heart is at peace knowing you have a full week of pure delight with the woman sitting peacefully next to you.

Leslie and I

You just emotionalized your desire to such a feverish pitch that you can actually taste, smell and even feel that vacation in your mind’s eye… and if you continue to do so…before too long, you’ll be sitting on that beach with your toes in the warm sand.

Ok…I admit, this vacation scenario may be a lot easier to emotionalize than say…deciding to quit smoking…or committing to getting in shape. Though, with enough desire, tagged with vivid emotion…this system works just the same.

If you set your mind to it and master this proven method, you’ll soon be able to use it to achieve anything your heart truly desires.

It’s time to unleash its power for your benefit. Write down at least five things you would love to do or have which would make your life better…a lot better. I want some lofty goals here.

Think long and deep about each one. Which one turns you on the most? Which one can you almost taste and feel? Which one can you vividly see in your mind’s eye having? Bingo…that’s the one!

Listen…your reality is going to absolutely reflect what your mind dwells on…and there’s no getting around it. If you choose to worry…your reality will be filled with gloom and doom.

Though if you choose to set your mind on what you want from life…your reality will reflect all you desire. The problem is if you don’t direct your thoughts, they’ll surely take the route of least resistance…worrying.

What I’m saying is…put a fire under your butt and burn a little for what you want…earn it…own it. Try calling on that God given free will and get emotional about it. Now is the time.
