“Ah…the good ol’ days.” A couple of days ago, as I was watching my grandkids giggling getting off the school bus to begin their summer break, I experienced one of those “ah…the good ol’ days” flashbacks. You know…the kind that leaves you a little melancholy longing for the way it used to be.
Lost in the moment, my heart warmed as I suddenly realized I was smack dab in the middle of what will certainly be lovingly remembered as “ah…the good ol’ days” 20 years from now.
You see…these “ah…the good ol’ days” flashbacks are our fond memories of the wonderful present moments we once were in. In fact, our beloved memories are like a tapestry of life’s present moments woven together just waiting to be triggered. For all the other moments wasted when we weren’t present…we weren’t aware. Therefore, they will forever be impossible to be flashed back.
So…as you’re spending time with your kids, your grandkids, your spouse, yourself…or just the moment you’re in…take the time to actually be present in it…enjoy it for all its worth. And if you do, these “ah…the good ol’ days” you are now in will come roaring back as well…for these will always be the “good ol’ days.”
