Let your conscience be your guide…. a sound piece of advice immortalized by Walt Disney’s Jiminy Cricket, used in mentoring his good friend, Pinocchio. What a clever way of teaching children right from wrong. The man was brilliant on so many levels.
Conscience according to Webster: The part of your mind that makes you aware of your actions as being either morally right or wrong.
If your conscience can truly offer such wisdom, which I believe it can, then it stands to reason that your conscience is something other than you. Think about it.
Your conscience, I believe, is your mind’s ultimate mentor. In fact, I’ll go as far as to suggest, your conscience could very well be a direct conduit or lifeline, if you will, connecting you to God’s infinite wisdom. What do you think about that?
Here is where all thoughts, feelings, and desires are negotiated, internalized, and sometimes even converted into beliefs. These beliefs then manifest subconsciously through actions. When saturated with emotion, such beliefs actually have the power to transform dreams to reality.
You see, when the mind and conscience are in harmony with an idea or desire, your inner radar, if you will, awakens, exposing everything necessary to provide what is needed for the realization… yes to even convert dreams to reality
Trusting this process does not only guide you… it propels you to where you need to be. It will always seem as if you’re in the right place with the right people at precisely the right time. You know what I’m talking about… you’ve been there before. How sweet it is!
But not so fast… if it were that easy to convert our dreams to reality, believe me, everyone would do it. Sure, we all have this inner voice desperately trying to get our attention, but having the courage and the discipline to actually settle down and take it in… well, that’s another issue altogether. That’s not so simple.
You see, there’s this little thing known as free will which oftentimes gets in the way.
As wonderful as this blessing is, it’s also a double edged sword. Though it affords us the freedom to make our own decisions, it doesn’t guarantee a wise choice. As a matter of fact, a poor choice can actually keep us from what we want.
Make no mistake about it… it’s these choices which define who we become, and in turn, constantly shape the reality we live in… better said… the one we choose to live in.
You may call it a gut feeling, following your heart, or just being in tune with your surroundings. Label it what you will, but for me it’s far more than that.
Far too often, when I hear my conscience trying to get my attention… because of fear, laziness, distrust or whatever, I completely ignore its presence.
But when I actually have the courage to listen and follow its wisdom, amazing things happen. And for me… that’s more than a gut feeling… its sound advice from my personal mentor.
